Cuban Diplomats Reception - May 29, 2025 at Beyond Baroque

The Arts and Cultural Bridge Foundation, along with Susan Adelman, Ayuko Babu, Jodie Evans, Ed Harris, Miya Iwataki, Francisco Letelier, Walter Lippmann, Byron Motley, Quentin Ring, Luis J. Rodriguez,  David A. Romero, Matt Sedillo, and Ericka Verba hosted a special reception and discussion with Representatives Yasser Ibarra, First Secretary, solidarity, labor unions and sports sectors and  David Ramirez Alvarez, Second Secretary, culture and political sectors of the Embassy of Cuba, Washington, D.C. on May 29, 2025 at Beyond Baroque Literary Arts Center in Venice, California.

This gathering offered a rare opportunity for leaders in the arts, education, and cultural sectors dedicated to solidarity and cultural diplomacy to engage directly with two key representatives of the Cuban Embassy. The timely discussion explored Cuba–U.S. relations, cultural exchange, travel opportunities, and building connections across borders. Poet and former Los Angeles Poet Laureate Luis J. Rodriguez opened the event with a powerful reading.

During their visit, the Cuban delegates also toured the Center for the Study of Political Graphics (CSPG) in Culver City—an internationally recognized archive of over 90,000 protest and human rights posters. Through exhibitions, publications, and public programs, CSPG uses political art to uncover hidden histories and inspire social change.
